What do we know about who we want to be?

It is pretty important for each of us to be the person we want to be. For survival, for society, for integrity. But what do we know then about who we want to be?

We need to know a lot about who we are currently, in order to in contrast know who we want to become.

What do we know about who we want to be?

We don’t know what we want.

We are not who we think to be. To fully capture what we are we have too many situation- and person-dependent characteristics. Also we are too biased to clearly see where we are not who we would like to be (see Alan Watts on “self-improvement”).

To be who we think to be we need to be a lot of what we are not.

We are more than we think to be.

I’m as much as I can think to be.

We’re all more than we think we can be.

I love myself is mostly what I know.

Update <2021-12-24 Fri>: Long after writing this I found these two quotes from Paolo Coelho, famous writer and book author. I’m immensely happy this rather artistic post held up so well and even relates to such a great author. Along the same lines, he said…

You are what you believe yourself to be.

We need to forget what we think we are, so that we can really become what we are.
